Learning Lab 2
I left this Wednesday morning to go to Washington D.C. with the Park Scholarships class of 2011. The topic for this learning lab was 'The National Debt.' The class of 2011 is a fun group, and we were able to meet with several very interesting and knowledgeable speakers. During the trip I attended a ballet at the Kennedy Center, sat in Ben Bernanke's chair in the Federal Reserve Building's boardroom, toured the monuments, and ate dinner at an amazing Moroccan restaurant that was complete with a belly dancer. On Saturday I spent a few hours touring the Library of Congress, where Thomas Jefferson's collection was on display. There was hardly a dull moment on the trip. Even the long train ride home on Saturday night was interrupted when our train collided with an abandoned SUV on the tracks. All in all it was a great experience, and I've created a new album on the photo page with a few pictures from the trip.

Fantasy Lake Scuba Park
Dad and I met in Wake Forest today to try out our brand new Apeks regulators at the Fantasy Lake Scuba Park. It was our first time at this particular place. Fantasy Lake is an old rock quarry that's been filled with water. There are a bunch of items of interest sunk on the bottom, such as and old bus, and airplane, and a huge rock crusher. Visibility was really poor, but Dad and I managed to find several lost items on the bottom, including a compass and a fully functional UWATEC dive computer. I took a couple of pictures and have posted them in an album on the photo site.
