Koala Park
I went to the Koala Park today and was able to hold one of them while it ate gum leaves. They're really laid back and funny critters. Besides koalas, the park had lots of kangaroos, wallabies, wombats, emus, sheep, cockatoos, parrots, penguins, and dingoes. All of those are native to the Sydney area. It was a great day, and I took well over a hundred pictures. Lots of them are posted on my photo site. These are probably some of the best pictures I'll get on this trip, so be sure to have a look.

It must have been so fun to hold a Koala. The Park sounds amazing.
Much love Mary Rose
patrick, what does the coat of the koala feel like? Do they make noises?
love you, Mom
The koalas didn't make any noises while we were there, but the males might when they fight during mating season. Those fights do tend to get a bit violent. One of the koalas we saw didn't have any ears left. The coats feel soft, but the longer hairs are a bit coarse. They don't shed naturally like dogs or cats, so they have to use their claws to pull their own coats out when it gets hot.
I think we need a Wombat. Please bring one home in a duffle bag. Penny
